I Dream of Jeannie with Barbra Eden
In the pilot episode, “The Lady in the Bottle”, astronaut Captain Tony Nelson, United States Air Force, is on a space flight when his one-man capsule Stardust One comes down far from the planned recovery area, near a deserted island in the South Pacific.
On the beach, Tony notices a strange bottle that rolls by itself. When he rubs it after removing the stopper, smoke starts shooting out and a Persian-speaking female genie materializes and kisses Tony on the lips, shocking him.
They cannot understand each other until Tony expresses his wish that Jeannie (a homophone of genie) could speak English, which she then does. Then, per his instructions, she “blinks” and causes a recovery helicopter to show up to rescue Tony, who is so grateful, he tells her she is free, but Jeannie, who has fallen in love with Tony at first sight after being trapped for 2,000 years, re-enters her bottle and rolls it into Tony’s duffel bag so she can accompany him back home.
One of the first things Jeannie does, in a subsequent episode, is break up Tony’s engagement to his commanding general’s daughter, Melissa, who, along with that particular general, is never seen or mentioned again. This event reflects producer Sidney Sheldon’s decision that the engagement depicted in the pilot episode would not be part of the series continuity; he realized the romantic triangle he created between Jeannie, Tony, and Melissa would not pan out in the long run.
Tony at first keeps Jeannie in her bottle most of the time, but he finally relents and allows her to enjoy a life of her own. However, her life is devoted mostly to his, and most of their problems stem from her love and affection towards Tony, and her desire to please him and fulfill her ancient heritage as a genie, especially when he does not want her to do so.
His efforts to cover up Jeannie’s antics, because of his fear that he would be dismissed from the space program if her existence were known, brings him to the attention of NASA’s resident psychiatrist, U.S. Air Force Colonel Dr. Alfred Bellows. In a running gag, Dr. Bellows tries over and over to prove to his superiors that Tony is either crazy or hiding something, but he is always foiled (“He’s done it to me again!”) and Tony’s job remains secure.
A frequently used plot device is that Jeannie loses her powers when she is confined in a closed space. She is unable to leave her bottle when it is corked, and under certain circumstances, the person who removed the cork would become her new master. Tony’s best friend and fellow astronaut, United States Army Corps of Engineers Captain Roger Healey, does not know about Jeannie for several episodes; when he finds out (in the episode “The Richest Astronaut in the Whole Wide World” [January 15, 1966]), he steals her so he can live in luxury, but not for long before Tony reclaims his status as Jeannie’s master.
Roger is often shown as girl-crazy or scheming to make a quick buck. He occasionally has hopes to claim Jeannie so he can use her to live a princely life or gain beautiful girlfriends, but overall he is respectful that Tony is Jeannie’s master, and later her husband. Both Tony and Roger are promoted to the rank of major late in the first season. In later seasons, Roger’s role is retconned to portray him knowing about Jeannie from the beginning (i.e., to him having been with Tony on the space flight that touched down, and thus having seen Jeannie introduce herself to Tony).
Jeannie’s evil fraternal twin sister, mentioned in a second-season episode (also named Jeannie – since, as Barbara Eden’s character explains it, all female genies are named Jeannie — and also portrayed by Barbara Eden, in a brunette wig), proves to have a mean streak starting in the third season (demonstrated in her initial appearance in “Jeannie or the Tiger?” [September 19, 1967]), repeatedly trying to steal Tony for herself, with her as the real “master”.
Her final attempt in the series comes shortly after Tony and Jeannie are married, with a ploy involving a man played by Barbara Eden’s real-life husband at the time, Michael Ansara (in a kind of in-joke, while Jeannie’s sister pretends to be attracted to him, she privately scoffs at him). The evil sister wears a green costume, with a skirt rather than pantaloons.
Early in the fifth season (September 30, 1969), Jeannie is called upon by her uncle Sully (Jackie Coogan) to become queen of their family’s native country, Basenji.
Tony inadvertently gives grave offense to Basenji national pride in their feud with neighboring Kasja. To regain favor, Tony is required by Sully to marry Jeannie and to avenge Basenji’s honor by killing the ambassador from Kasja when he visits NASA.
After Sully puts Tony through an ordeal of nearly killing the ambassador, Tony responds in a fit of anger that he is fed up with Sully and his cohorts and he would not marry Jeannie if she were “the last genie on earth”. Hearing this, Jeannie bitterly leaves Tony and returns to Basenji. With Jeannie gone, Tony realizes how deeply he loves her. That outweighs all concerns he has had about Jeannie’s threat to his career.
He flies to Basenji to win Jeannie back. Upon their return to NASA, Tony introduces Jeannie as his fiancée. She attires herself as a modern American woman in public, and it is easily accepted that Tony has a girlfriend. This changed the show’s premise: instead of to avoid Jeannie’s exposure, it was to hide her magical abilities.
This is contrary to the mythology created by Sidney Sheldon’s own season-two script for “The Birds and Bees Bit”, in which it was claimed that upon marriage a genie loses all of her magical powers.

Remember Aunt Clara ?? Bewitched?
Marion Lorne (August 12, 1883 – May 9, 1968) was an American actress of stage, film, and television. After a career in theatre in New York and London, Lorne made her first film in 1951, and for the remainder of her life, played small roles in films and television.
Her recurring role, between 1964 and her death in 1968, as Aunt Clara in the comedy series, Bewitched (1964–1972) brought her widespread recognition, and for which she was posthumously awarded an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
She was born Marion Lorne MacDougall in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, a small mining town halfway between Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, of Scottish and English immigrant parents. While her year of birth is listed as 1885 on her tombstone, it was usually listed as 1888 when she was alive and the Social Security Death Index lists it as 1883. She studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Career Lorne debuted on Broadway in 1905; she also acted in London theaters, enjoying a flourishing stage career on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
In London she had her own theater, the Whitehall, where she had top billing in plays written by Walter Hackett, her husband. None of her productions at the Whitehall had runs shorter than 125 nights.
After appearing in a couple of Vitaphone shorts, including Success (1931) starring Jack Haley, she made her feature film debut in her late 60s in Strangers on a Train (1951), directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
The role was typical of the befuddled, nervous, and somewhat aristocratic matrons that she usually portrayed.
From 1952-55, Lorne was seen as perpetually confused junior high school English teacher Mrs. Gurney on Mr. Peepers. From 1957–58, she co-starred with Joan Caulfield in the NBC sitcom Sally in the role of an elderly widow who happens to be the co-owner of a department store. Although afraid of live television, declaring “I’m a coward when it comes to a live [television] show”, she was persuaded to appear a few times to promote the film The Girl Rush with Rosalind Russell in the mid-1950s.
Between 1958–64, she made regular appearances on The Garry Moore Show (1958–64). Her last role, as Aunt Clara in Bewitched, brought Lorne her widest fame as a lovable, forgetful witch who is losing her powers due to old age and whose spells usually end in disaster. Aunt Clara is obsessed with doorknobs, often bringing her collection with her on visits.
Lorne had an extensive collection of doorknobs in real life, some of which she used as props in the series.[8] Death She appeared in twenty-seven episodes of Bewitched, and was not replaced after she died of a heart attack in her Manhattan apartment, just prior to the start of production of the show’s fifth season, at the age of 84 on May 9, 1968. Lorne is buried at Ferncliff Cemetery in Greenburgh, New York.
Posthumous The producers of Bewitched recognized that Lorne’s performance as Aunt Clara could not be replicated by another actress. Comedic actress Alice Ghostley was recruited to fill the gap as “Esmeralda”, a different type of befuddled witch with wobbly magic whose spells often went astray.
Coincidentally, Lorne and Ghostley had appeared side-by-side as partygoers in the iconic comedy-drama film The Graduate , made the year before Lorne’s death. She received a posthumous Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Bewitched. The statue was accepted by Bewitched star Elizabeth Montgomery. Leur trait principal (commun ) qui les caractérise : Le scinisme ( sympa), la méchanceté gratuite envers leurs voisins, envers leurs entourage et même entre eux.
Raymond : Gendarme à la retraite s’ennuie. Huguette, son épouse : Femme au foyer passe son temps à taquiner son mari ( et réciproquement)
Huguette est une fan inconditionnelle d’un chanteur : Michael François.
Huguette & Raymond ont une fille : Caroline. Fille pour laquelle, ils n’ont aucun sentiment, pire, c’est presque de la destestation et moquerie qu’ils expriment lorsqu’ils parlent d’elle.
José et Liliane :
Un couple Quinquagénaire. Liliane est esthéticienne. José Fonctionnaire à la mairie.
Les premières saisons, Liliane poussait fortement son mari à se présenter aux élections municipales. Les campagnes et promos organisées par Liliane . L’impression ( et c’est la réalité ) que José se présente en candidat aux élections en tant que maire parce que c’est Liliane qui le veut.
En fait, nous voyons Liliane gérer toute sa campagne électorale ; José suivant sagement pas convaincu et pas réellement intéressé par le poste.

Sa passion : Le foot. Assez paresseux, il ne rate aucune occasion pour rentrer plus tôt à la maison. Son épouse le pousse assez souvent de repartir travailler.
Ils ont un enfant : Manu. Le point faible de Liliane. Manu qui vit en chine pour son boulot.
La plupart du temps, José , gauche et maladroit blesse ses amis aussi bien que sa femme sans pour autant réaliser l’impact de ses paroles et gestes.
Cédric et Marion : Un couple fantasque
Cédric, gestionnaire, salarié durant les premiers épisodes. Par la suite, il va connaitre le chômage. Radin,
En revanche, sa compagne ( qui devient son épouse par la suite) s’auto proclame « femme d’affaires » et recrute des stagiaires à la pelle qu’elle (mal)traite comme des soldats à sa disposition.
Cédric et Marion se considèrent très beaux, très intelligents et pensent que les autres les jalousent. (ce qui n’est nullement le cas : quant à l’intelligence notamment )
Fabien et Emma : Le couple citadin qui a décidé de s’installer à la campagne.
Emma :bricoleuse au caractère assez “cash”.
D’ailleurs, elle occupe un poste chez Bricoflex. Côté culture, ce n’est pas son fort. Même si parfois elle essaie de faire des efforts pour donner la réplique à son conjoint.
Justement Fabien : Fier d’être professeur « agrégé ». Il n’est même pas bricoleur du dimanche. Plus posé, il lui arrive souvent d’agir bizarrement notamment lorsqu’il s’agit de combattre ses peurs et phobies. Peur de tout. Il suffit qu’il visionne un film d’horreur en soirée et ce, « malgré lui », c’est parti pour une nuit blanche.
Ils ont transformé leur maison en maison d’hôte ( ou gîte ) mais étant amateurs dans ce domaine, ce n’est pas trop leur fort « la fidélisation des clients »
Philippe et Camille
Philippe est Pharmacien. Bourgeois à la tête de sa pharmacie qui engendre des recettes énormes. Philippe ne s’en cache pas. Il répète à qui veut qu’il est pharmacien. Il considère qu’il a réussi sa vie « puisqu’il est pharmacien » . Beaucoup plus âgé que Camille , Philippe vit dans l’angoisse que Camille le quitte. A cause de son âge justement
Philippe a 2 enfants issus d’une première union avec Isabelle : Ulysse et Camille.
Ulysse paresseux et vivant aux crochets de son père.
Camille : Professeur de Yoga. Assez ouverte ( voire trop parfois ). Elle reprend ses histoires amoureuses de nombreuses fois durant ses conversations avec ses invités. Ce qui choque et fait peur à Philippe.
A préciser que Camille essaie d’imposer à Philippe un régime alimentaire drastique.

Lana Parrilla (born July 15, 1977) is an American actress.
Parrilla is best known for her roles on television and radio.

She was a regular cast member in the fifth season of the ABC sitcom Spin City from 2000 to 2001.
She ( later )guest-starred in Boomtown (2002-2003), Windfall (2006), Swingtown (2008) and as Doctor Eva Zambrano in the short-lived medical drama Miami Medical (2010). She also played the role of Sarah Gavin on the season four of Fox series 24 in 2005. In 2011, Parrilla began starring as The Evil Queen/Regina Mills in the ABC fantasy drama series, Once Upon a Time.
Parrilla was born in Brooklyn. Her father, Sam Parrilla (1943–94), was a Puerto Rican-born baseball player who played professionally for 11 seasons (1963–73), including one season with the Major League Philadelphia Phillies in 1970 as an outfielder.
Her mother is an American painter of Sicilian descent who works in banking. Parrilla has one older sister, Deena, and a nephew named Sammy.
She is also the niece of character actress Candice Azzara. Parrilla’s parents legally divorced when she was four years old. She spent her first ten years living with her mother, and then lived with her father. During the time she lived with her father, he was too protective to allow her to attend a performing arts school, which delayed her acting career.
Parrilla lived with her father until his murder in 1994, when she was 16 and he was 50. Her father was shot once in the chest by a 15-year-old female assailant at point blank range and later died from the wound.
After the death of her father, Parrilla moved in with her mother in Burbank, California. Parrilla visited Granada in 2007 to learn Spanish. After high school she moved to Los Angeles and attended Beverly Hills Playhouse to study acting. She also studied voice for ten years. Parrilla then began to be cast in small parts and later on, larger ones.
In her early career, Parrilla appeared in several movies, including Very Mean Men (2000), Spiders (2000), Replicant (2001) and Frozen Stars (2003). She made her television debut in 1999, on the UON sitcom Grown Ups.
In 2000, she joined the cast of the ABC comedy series Spin City, playing Angie Ordonez for one season. She left the show in 2001.
After that she joined Donnie Wahlberg and Neal McDonough in the 2002 critically acclaimed but short-lived crime drama Boomtown, for which she received the Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress, for her portrayal of Teresa, a paramedic. Initially a success, Boomtown began to struggle, and Parrilla’s character became a police academy rookie, to tie her more closely to the rest of the show. “Boomtown” was cancelled just two episodes into its second season.
Parrilla guest-starred in a number of television dramas, including JAG, Six Feet Under, Covert Affairs, Medium, The Defenders and Chase. She had a recurring role in 2004 as Officer Janet Grafton in NYPD Blue.
In 2005, Parrilla took a recurring guest role on the fourth season of the Fox series 24 as Sarah Gavin, a Counter Terrorist Unit agent. After just six episodes, Lana was made a regular cast member; but in the thirteenth episode, her character was written out after she tried to thwart another character’s promotion from temporary to permanent CTU head Michelle Dessler (Reiko Aylesworth).
In 2006, Parrilla starred in the NBC summer series Windfall alongside Luke Perry, fellow former 24 cast member Sarah Wynter, and Parilla’s former Boomtown castmate Jason Gedrick. In 2007, she guest starred as Greta during the third season of ABC’s Lost in the episodes “Greatest Hits” and “Through the Looking Glass” In 2008, she had a leading role on the Lifetime movie The Double Life of Eleanor Kendall, in which she played Nellie, a divorcee whose identity has been stolen.
Also in 2008, she starred in the CBS summer series Swingtown as Trina Decker, a woman who is part of a Swinging couple. In 2010, Parrilla had a female lead role in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Miami Medical on CBS, which had a short run towards the end of the 2009–10 television season before it was canceled in July 2010.
Windfall, Swingtown and Miami Medical were all canceled after 13 episodes.
In February 2011, she was cast as Mayor Regina Mills/The Evil Queen, the main antagonist in the ABC adventure fantasy drama pilot, Once Upon a Time created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.
The series debuted in October 2011.
The pilot episode was watched by 12.93 million viewers and achieved an adult 18–49 rating/share of 4.0/10 during the first season, receiving generally favorable reviews from critics.
Parrilla’s performance also received positive reviews from critics. In 2012 and 2013, she was regarded as a promising contender for an Emmy Award in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category, though she did not receive a nomination.
She won the TV Guide Award for Favorite Villain and the ALMA Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series in 2012.
Parrilla also received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress on Television from the 38th Saturn Awards.
Parrilla became engaged to boyfriend Fred Di Blasio on April 28, 2013, while in Israel.
The two were married June 5, 2014, shortly before Parrilla began filming the fourth season of Once Upon a Time.”
Parrilla confirmed the news on her Twitter account on August 1. Parrilla is the stepmother to Di Blasio’s three sons: Jack, age 18, Patrick, age 15, and Matthew, age 13.

Marion Lorne (August 12, 1883 – May 9, 1968) was an American actress of stage, film, and television. After a career in theatre in New York and London, Lorne made her first film in 1951, and for the remainder of her life, played small roles in films and television.
Her recurring role, between 1964 and her death in 1968, as Aunt Clara in the comedy series, Bewitched (1964–1972) brought her widespread recognition, and for which she was posthumously awarded an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
She was born Marion Lorne MacDougall in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, a small mining town halfway between Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, of Scottish and English immigrant parents. While her year of birth is listed as 1885 on her tombstone, it was usually listed as 1888 when she was alive and the Social Security Death Index lists it as 1883. She studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Career Lorne debuted on Broadway in 1905; she also acted in London theaters, enjoying a flourishing stage career on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
In London she had her own theater, the Whitehall, where she had top billing in plays written by Walter Hackett, her husband. None of her productions at the Whitehall had runs shorter than 125 nights.
After appearing in a couple of Vitaphone shorts, including Success (1931) starring Jack Haley, she made her feature film debut in her late 60s in Strangers on a Train (1951), directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
The role was typical of the befuddled, nervous, and somewhat aristocratic matrons that she usually portrayed.
From 1952-55, Lorne was seen as perpetually confused junior high school English teacher Mrs. Gurney on Mr. Peepers. From 1957–58, she co-starred with Joan Caulfield in the NBC sitcom Sally in the role of an elderly widow who happens to be the co-owner of a department store. Although afraid of live television, declaring “I’m a coward when it comes to a live [television] show”, she was persuaded to appear a few times to promote the film The Girl Rush with Rosalind Russell in the mid-1950s.
Between 1958–64, she made regular appearances on The Garry Moore Show (1958–64). Her last role, as Aunt Clara in Bewitched, brought Lorne her widest fame as a lovable, forgetful witch who is losing her powers due to old age and whose spells usually end in disaster. Aunt Clara is obsessed with doorknobs, often bringing her collection with her on visits.
Lorne had an extensive collection of doorknobs in real life, some of which she used as props in the series.[8] Death She appeared in twenty-seven episodes of Bewitched, and was not replaced after she died of a heart attack in her Manhattan apartment, just prior to the start of production of the show’s fifth season, at the age of 84 on May 9, 1968. Lorne is buried at Ferncliff Cemetery in Greenburgh, New York.
Posthumous The producers of Bewitched recognized that Lorne’s performance as Aunt Clara could not be replicated by another actress. Comedic actress Alice Ghostley was recruited to fill the gap as “Esmeralda”, a different type of befuddled witch with wobbly magic whose spells often went astray.
Coincidentally, Lorne and Ghostley had appeared side-by-side as partygoers in the iconic comedy-drama film The Graduate , made the year before Lorne’s death. She received a posthumous Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Bewitched. The statue was accepted by Bewitched star Elizabeth Montgomery. Three’s Company is an American sitcom that aired from March 15, 1977, to September 18, 1984, on ABC. It is based on the British sitcom, Man About the House.
The story revolves around three single roommates, Janet Wood, Chrissy Snow, and Jack Tripper, who all platonicallyshare Apartment 201 in a Santa Monica, California apartment building owned by Mr. and Mrs. Roper.
Later, followingSuzanne Somers’ departure, Jenilee Harrison joined the cast as Cindy Snow (Chrissy’s cousin), who was later replaced by Priscilla Barnes as Terri Alden. After the Ropers were spun-off into their own sitcom, Don Knotts joined the cast as the roommates’ new landlord Ralph Furley, brother of the new building owner, Bart Furley.

After crashing a party and finding himself passed out in the bathtub, cooking school student Jack Tripper meets Janet Wood, a florist, and Chrissy Snow, a secretary, in need of a new roommate. Although Mrs. Roper figures out Jack’s true sexuality in the second episode, she does not tell her husband, who tolerates but mocks him. Frequently siding with the three roommates instead of her husband, Mrs. Roper’s bond with the roommates grows until the eventual spinoff The Ropers.
Jack continues the charade when new landlord Ralph Furley takes over the apartment complex because Mr. Furley insists that his hard-nosed brother Bart (the building’s new owner) would also never tolerate such living situations.
The show was set minutes from the beach in Santa Monica, California, and was filmed primarily using three main sets: the trio’s apartment, their landlord’s apartment, and a neighborhood pub called The Regal Beagle. In later seasons more sets were used, frequently depicting the apartment of Jack’s friend Larry, Angelino’s restaurant, Jack’s Bistro, the hospital where Terri worked, and Janet’s flower shop.
Humor in the show was based on farce, often relying on innuendo and misunderstanding, as well as physical comedy to punctuate the hare-brained schemes the characters would invariably conjure up to get themselves out of situations and dilemmas.

Running jokes were frequently based on Jack’s (supposed) sexual orientation, Mr. Roper’s lack of sexual prowess, and Chrissy’s blonde moments.
Conflict in the show came from the dysfunctional marriage of the Ropers, Janet’s intolerance for a roommate romance, and later on, Jack’s friendship with Larry and Larry’s abuse thereof.
The theme song was composed by Joe Raposo (known for his composing for the children’s television show Sesame Street), and sung by Ray Charles (not to be confused with the blind R&B musician) and Julia Rinker.
Three’s Company had many cast changes over its run. The first of these changes took place in the spring of 1979 with the relocation of the Ropers to their own television series (The Ropers), which revolved around Helen and Stanley, and their neighbors in a townhouse community after Stanley had sold the apartment building. Man About The House had similarly spun the Ropers off for the series George and Mildred.
Two changes took place in the fall of 1979, at the beginning of the fourth season. The first was the addition of Lana, an older woman who chased Jack around. She liked to pursue him but he did not appreciate her advances.
Since Ann Wedgeworth did not appreciate her diminishing role in the series, Lana was dropped from the show without any explanation before the season was half over.
The other new addition that fall was the new building manager, Ralph Furley (played by Don Knotts), whose brother Bart bought the building from the Ropers. Mr. Furley pursued Lana unsuccessfully, as she unsuccessfully pursued Jack. Unlike Lana, he appeared until the end of the series.
Season five (1980–1981) marked the beginning of contract re-negotiations and sparked friction on the set. When Somers’ demands for a heavily increased salary (from $30,000 to $150,000 per episode, plus 10% of the show’s profits) were not met, Somers went on a strike of sorts.
Executives believed that a complete loss of Somers could damage the program’s popularity so a compromise was reached. Somers, who was still under contract, continued to appear in the series, but only in the one-minute tag scene of a handful of episodes. Somers’ scenes were taped on separate days from the show’s regular taping; she did not appear on set with any of the show’s other cast members.
According to the story, her character had returned to her hometown of Fresno to care for her ailing mother, and was only seen when she telephoned her former roommates, and they recounted that week’s adventures to her. This arrangement continued for one season. Somers’ contract was not renewed and Chrissy’s place in the apartment was taken by her clumsy cousin Cindy Snow (Jenilee Harrison).

Another replacement, Terri Alden (played by Priscilla Barnes), a clever, sometimes sassy nurse, joined the cast in the sixth season (1981–1982). In the script, Cindy was to move to college to fulfill her dream of becoming a veterinarian, and would continue to visit throughout the sixth season.
The show ended with the departure of all cast members except Ritter, who moved on to the spin-off Three’s a Crowd (syndicated as “Threes Company Too” in the Threes Company syndication package), itself based upon Man About the House’s spin-off Robin’s Nest.
After more than 30 years of not speaking to each other, Suzanne Somers and Joyce DeWitt finally made up and reunited for Suzanne’s web series Breaking Through which aired February 2, 2012.
